An exclusive collaboration
The two artists, emblematic figures of the French and international art scene, come together for an unprecedented collaboration. Together, they imagine a one-of-a-kind exhibition that focuses on how things appear and disappear.
A sensory experience
This exhibition invites its visitors to fully immerse themselves in a 3 767 square foot space. Mirrors, brightly colored filters, blackout window shades, and even a water wall, everything is designed to impress. For a moment, the gallery blurs the boundaries between things to offer a sensory experience worthy of a journey through a dreamlike labyrinth.
With this presentation, Daniel and Philippe show a particular interest in the way forms are manifested and try to demonstrate that one object combined with another does not always make two objects. They wish to encourage visitors to question the meaning of art and the condition of existence of different forms in it. Which they do by creating a new architecture with a disturbing and moving atmosphere.
“The exhibition investigates the way things appear and disappear, which is the definition of a ghost or indeed any form that manifests itself. When medieval scribes remembered having already read a sentence they were in the midst of transcribing, they called this feeling a ghost. The ghost was this rereading. It represents the uncertain, the unfinished, but also the reinvented. Such quasi-objects have an unfinished existence. The world is not only haunted by ghosts, it is constantly transformed by them. There’s no way to escape them. No object exists without its exhibition; it responds to a new story or a new dramatization, it appears in a new ritual. ” – Philippe Parreno
